What Is Labor Day?

Labor Day in the United States is a federal holiday in all of the country's states and territories. It is celebrated every first Monday of September.
Millions of American and non-American workers get a free day off from work on this day, which is also seen as the end of the summer.
The first Labor Day in the US was in 1878 when New York's Central Labor Union, when they asked for a “day off for the working people.” In 1894, Labor Day was officially made a federal holiday. Its current September date was chosen in the US, instead of just adopting the International Labor Day schedule, to prevent any negative notions that is sometimes connected to the international celebration.
Labor Day is typically celebrated with a parade and march organized and participated in by trade and labor organizations, followed by a program for workers which is often filled with speeches, food fairs, family picnics, and community games. The day is also seen as the beginning of new seasons for the National Football League and the NCAA College Football.
