Rock Werchter is a a music festival that had been running annually in what is known as Belgium's Werchter's Festival Park since 1975. This is considered one of the biggest of its kind in Belgium, and is a well-anticipated event for music lovers in many parts of the world.
Borne of varied music concepts, from beat happening to jazz to blues and rock, Rock Werchter combines a lot of genres. First staged in 1975 by a few music lovers who wanted to create a fun dance, rock, blues event to suit their tastes, it has nevertheless became a worldwide phenomenon in the music industry.
Despite a few rocky years in the 1970s when audience numbers plunged to a few thousands, it is now considered one of the biggest music festivals in world—rivaling Woodstock and Isle of Wight. Today, it attracts close to 80,000 people per year with its topnotch line-up of acts who perform on its two main stages and other smaller, more intimate venues.
