Oxegen is a music festival held every in County Kildare in Ireland. This four-day festival is considered one of the greenest such events in the whole world, being carbon neutral. It is usually seen as Ireland’s equivalent of the English Glastonbury Festival, although it is held in the same weekend as Scotland’s T in the Park (July’s second week) and shares almost the exact line up of musicians.
Although the event is pretty young compared to other European music festivals, having first staged only in 2004, Roskilde is rapidly gaining fans and growing the number of audiences that it hosts every year. Most recently, fans flocking to the festival has ballooned to about 90,000.
Recently, it was voted as the best European music festival, legitimizing it as a threat to the more established and much older music festivals in the continent.
