Now here is something that you probably never imagined existing: a Mobile Phone Throwing Championship. Yes, we’re kidding you not. There is a Mobile Phone Throwing Champhionship. It calls Finland its home, where the Mobile Phone Throwing Championships had been held annually since 2000
The Mobile Phone Throwing Competition is an international sport in which participants compete to throw a mobile phone over the farthest distance. And not just that, there are various categories that will test not just the strength of the phone or the thrower, but also style and technique. It has different categories, among them the Original or Traditional Category, which is an over-the-shoulder throw in which the contestant who throws over the farthest distance winning in a best-of-three series wins, and the Freestyle Category, in which players get points for aesthetics and creative choreography. There is also the Team Original Category, where a team composed of up to three members compete, with each getting just one throw and points are later added on.. Another Category is the Juniors, for children aged twelve or younger.
Most phone models can be used, as long as the phones weigh over 220 grams. Some events allow the competitors their own choice of phone models, while others require the use of units provided by the event organizers. The prize for first place in a national event is usually an entry to the world championships. Meanwhile, the prize for winning in the world championships is usually a new mobile phone since these events are usually supported by mobile phone recycling organizations that promotes the recycling of phones.
