French Cruiser arrives in Tricomalee November 16, 2010 French cruiser Le-diamant has arrived in Trincomalee with 70 tourists. It marks the first such arrival after the end of the military operations in the North and East. The tourists were welcomed by Deputy Habour Master Lakshi Wasantha. A tour guide in the area explained that the tourists will be able to open their tour in Sri Lanka from Trincomalee, instead of the previous arrangement where they landed in Colombo and started their tour. He said that earlier they had to travel back to areas such as Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura and even Trincomalee from Colombo. The cruise ship, which has a capacity of 112 cabins, is one of five luxury cruise ships owned and operated by CMA CGM Group's cruise arm Compangnie de Ponant. CMA CGM is the world's third largest container shipping line. The ship was the first cruise liner to call three ports in the country on the same voyage. Its second voyage is planned for May 2011.
