Take a tour of Bangkok Marble Temple in Bangkok, Thailand - part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Its Thai name is something of a mouthful, so this Buddhist temple is usually simply called the Marble Temple. Construction of the temple began in Bangkok in 1899, and became one of the city's most beautiful structures. The white walls and pillars gleam brilliantly under the tiered orange and golden roof. The Marble Temple is one of the few Buddhist temples to incorporate the use of stained glass windows. Inside of the temple is a large number of statues and images of Buddha, in a wide variety of styles, poses, and sizes. The temple complex is actively used as a site of worship, and also contains a national museum.
This is a really nice mall, very spacious, and not so nuts as MBK. Pricey though, so it's not a place for deals, however, the cell phones on the top floor by the food courts by the theater had prices similar to the MBK. it's a great shopping mall. www.hi10spro.com

Bangkok is the capital, largest urban area and primary city of Thailand. Known in Thai as Krung Thep Mahanakhon , or Krung Thep for short, it was a small trading post at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River during the Ayutthaya Kingdom. It came to the forefront of Siam when it was given the status as the capital city in 1768 after the burning of Ayutthaya. However, the current Rattanakosin Kingdom did not begin until 1782 when the capital was moved across the river by Rama I after the death of King Taksin. The Rattanakosin capital is now more formally called "Phra Nakhon", pertaining to the ancient boundaries in the metropolis' core and the name Bangkok now incorporates the urban build-up since the 18th century which has its own public administration and governor. In the span of over two hundred years, Bangkok has grown to become the political, social and economic center of not only Thailand but for Indochina and Southeast Asia. Its influence in the arts, politics, fashion, education and entertainment as well as being a business, financial and cultural center of Asia has given Bangkok the status of a global city. Bangkok has a population of approximately 6355144 residents while the greater Bangkok area has a population of 11971000 (January 2008). This has in turn shifted the country from being a rather homogeneous Thai population to an increasingly vibrant mix of Western, Indian and Chinese people, giving the city a cosmopolitan status. The capital is part of the heavily
